Singleness: tips on dating and how to find someone

Image
Before I start this blog I want to make it clear that you could follow every tip I give you and you might not find someone, however I do believe the tips I'm going to share will give you some encouragement, and will also help you grow in your character. Who knows, maybe over time you will find someone, and if that is something you desire I hope and pray God blesses you in that area of your life. However I think it's important to say that a relationship does not complete you, and that many people live fruitful and blessed lives remaining single. But I do understand it is something many, if not most people desire, which is why I am writing this blog.  I was single from age 20 until I started dating my husband when I was 27, I did have odd dates and short relationships in those 7 years, but if I'm honest it did feel like I was hitting my head against a brick wall, as no one I went out with brought me joy and fun. Because God had put marriage on my heart, in a way it made it 10...

Building healthy routines into my life

Image
In this new season of my life I've felt challenged to create some healthy routines in my life. I would say I was already someone who prioritised health, whether that was spiritual, physical or mental, but I'm realising I need weekly routines to keep myself accountable. We should all seek good health and routines which promote good health, this is what today's blog is about. I hope you find the routines I follow helpful, but please remember we're all on our own personal journey. Routine #1 - Start my day in scripture I've mentioned before that I spend every morning reading the word of God. The main reasons why I do this is firstly to make sure I'm learning more about who God is on a daily basis, but also to make sure my approach to my day aligns with how Jesus approached his life on earth. I'm the best version of myself when I start my day prioritizing God's word. I'd encourage you to read the Gospels to see how Jesus lived when he was on Earth, it ...

What I learnt from attending a marriage course

Image
Andy and I took part in a 7 session course on Christian marriage from October to February and we learnt so much. Today I want to share with you my top takeaways from the course and why I believe you should partake in this course if you are married. Session 1 - Strengthening Connection In this session it covered the importance of staying connected through the different stages of marriage, plus the importance of date nights and continuing to get to know one another throughout your marriage. This session was really helpful for Andy and I, as you know if you're a regular reader we've been through a lot in our marriage already, however unlike the other couples on the course, we've not had years to get to know each other and grow, so we're prepared for those hard seasons. This session challenged me personally to keep getting to know my husband through every season. Whether that's through date nights, through asking questions or taking an interest in his interests. Why did we move house?

Image
As I write this blog we have been in our new home for 2 weeks, we're starting to settle in and we're hosting my family for the first time this evening, which I'm really excited about. There were many reasons why we decided to move house. I want to share with you the why behind the move, but also encourage you to think about reasons why it might be time for you to move house. Before I begin I do want to say Andy and I know how blessed we are to have this new home, we thank God for it every day. We couldn't be in this home without God blessing us and guiding us along the way. I do understand some of you reading this blog might not be in a position to move house, so as you read this blog, maybe take encouragement for what you can change in your current home right now to make it the home you want it to be.  Reason 1 - We needed a family home As I mentioned in last weeks blog Andy and I really believe that God is preparing us for the next chapter of our lives, which we'...

An insight into my season of waiting for our future family

Image
As I write this blog I'm sat in our new kitchen in our new home. I will be sharing a blog about how the move went and maybe a few pictures, but in today's blog I want to talk about seasons God calls us into. Andy and I have been on a real journey of God preparing us for the future, and with this has come new seasons and a lot of change. It reminds me of Joshua entering the Promised Land, it took many years and a lot of preparation, but eventually God answered his promise and the Israelite's reached their destination, their home. What journey is God taking you on? Do you know what the end goal might look like? Do you need to surrender to God's plan? just some questions to think about. I want to share with you four distinct journey's we've had to go on, and what God has taught us in those seasons. #1 - Building a foundation If you imagine every blessing that God gifts you it will likely come with weight, and this requires the foundations being solid. Whether that...
