How I find peace and hope

I have shared on this blog that I'm a Christian, it is a massive part of my life and has made me the person I am today. I'm aware some of my readers aren't Christians, but I hope today's blog will encourage you and if you do have any questions after reading this blog please contact me directly.

At Church the other week we heard a Bible verse that really brought me comfort and peace.

Isaiah 58:11

'The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail'

I've been feeling very dry recently, spiritually, mentally and in my day to day life. I've been asking myself questions like 'what is my purpose?', 'am I doing what God wants me to do?', 'why am I finding life so challenging at times?'. Life is full of seasons, some are good, some are bad. We can experience moments in life that can leave us rock bottom, maybe we have lost a loved one, maybe we're unhappy at work or in our relationships or friendships. There are so many reasons in this world to be unhappy and overwhelmed.

However what this verse has reminded me is that when we know God, and can trust in Him we can have faith that He will sustain us through those difficult times. We can have faith that we won't run dry and that we can always experience goodness, even when we do experience those difficult times. This year for me has been very hard, those closest to me have witnessed how debilitating it has been for me. However one thing I have known throughout is that I have a God who can sustain me and that I have a God who can meet my needs in those dry places, in those tough seasons.

I sometimes ask myself 'how can people get through such difficult times without knowing God and experiencing a peace that this world we live in can't provide?'. If you're reading this blog and have been struggling to find peace in your life I would encourage you to say a simple prayer:

'God, I pray to experience your peace. I pray that I can experience a life that doesn't run dry and a life that always has hope. I trust that as I say this prayer I will experience you in my life, help me to discover you and know you, Amen'.

One thing I always want to tell people who don't know God, is that He isn't a dictator, at the heart of God is love and compassion, is hope and peace. I still make mistakes and hurt people every day, I'm not perfect and I never will be, but that doesn't stop God loving me, He loves you, and He longs for you to know Him.

I hope this blog has been helpful for Christians and non-Christians. When life is hard and when you feel dry, remember to go to the God who brings life and hope.
